Krystol Mortar Admixture™ (KMA)

The original hydrophilic crystalline admixture used to create permanently waterproof masonry mortar and concrete masonry.

How It Works

Krystol technology reacts with moisture to form insoluble needle-shaped crystals that fill capillary pores and micro-cracks in the concrete and block the pathways for water and waterborne contaminants.

Unlike other crystalline solutions that react with free lime that eventually depletes over time, KMA chemically reacts with water and unhydrated cement particles. Any moisture introduced over the lifespan of the concrete will initiate crystallization, ensuring permanent waterproofing and watertightness protection.

Why Krystol?

Proven over 50 years

Krystol, introduced over 50 years ago as the first crystallization technology, has proven its efficacy through the enduring longevity of the structures where it was used.

Integral Admixture

Unlike surface applied solutions that can degrade over time, Krystol Mortar Admixture in integral to the concrete, ensure it continues to work over the lifetime of the structure — no further maintenance required.

Permanent Reactive Technology

Any moisture introduced over the lifespan of the concrete will initiate crystallization, ensuring permanent protection.

Versatile

Krystol Mortar Admixture is effective with rendering and plastering mortar (including stucco and other thin topping mixes) over concrete masonry walls or other prepared substrates, masonry mortar, and concrete masonry units.

Sustainable

By making the concrete itself the waterproof barrier, Krystol technology can reduce the need for additional materials and processes associated with external waterproofing or watertightness methods. This can result in more sustainable concrete over its lifecycle.
