St. Eunan's Cathedral in Donegal, Ireland is over 100 years old and underwent extensive exterior restoration of the 90 meters (300 foot) building. The sandstone exterior was sandblasted clean. The resulting exposure of the sandstone facilitated subsequent water penetration and weather damage.
In July 2000, the sandstone exterior of the cathedral was cleaned with Spray & Shine and power washing. The stone was then repaired and pointed with a special mortar of lime and sand (no cement). Krystol Hydrostop was finally applied to the exterior and with great success.
As a result of the success of this project, Mr. Denis McGinley, has recommended Krystol Hydrostop for St. Patrick's Church, Ballyshannon Co. in Donegal.
Hydrostop Sealer is a high-performance penetrating sealer used by itself to protect concrete, brick, mortar and masonry from the damaging effects of water intrusion. It is also used as part of the Hydrostop Restore & Protect System to improve aesthetic appearance of aging concrete infrastructure and buildings, as well as mortar rendered structures, and provide a strong durable barrier against water intrusion.
