Download Case Study

Nuhn Industries Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of liquid manure spreaders, agitators, pumps, hauling equipment and slurry tankers. Founded in Ontario in 1902, the company has grown from a small blacksmith shop into an established manufacturer of agricultural equipment.

To support its continued growth, Nuhn Industries is constructing a new 148,000-square-foot warehouse and assembly plant in Sebringville, Ontario. The facility will provide additional space for the assembly and expansion of its equipment product lines.

The Challenge

Industrial floors are subjected to demanding operating conditions, including equipment and material-handling traffic that can contribute to surface wear over time.

For its new facility, Nuhn Industries needed a durable concrete floor capable of supporting long-term industrial use. Improving abrasion resistance was an important consideration in protecting this significant investment.

The Solution

Hard-Cem Integral Hardening Admixture was incorporated into approximately 2,300 m³ of concrete, covering an estimated 101,000 sq. ft.—roughly two-thirds of the new facility. Approximately 7,000 bags of Hard-Cem were used.

Added directly to the concrete mix, Hard-Cem increases concrete hardness and improves resistance to abrasion and erosion throughout the concrete rather than relying on a surface-applied treatment.

The result is a more durable industrial floor designed to withstand demanding service conditions and support Nuhn Industries as it enters its next stage of growth.
