The Lebanese Canadian Bank has 35 branches throughout Lebanon and a representative office in Montreal, Canada. The bank places a lot of emphasis on quality as a way of performing and approaching business; they are the first bank in Lebanon with International Quality Standards ISO 9001.

When constructing their new corporate head office in Beirut’s Central district the construction quality was also an important consideration. The contractor needed to find a solution to waterproof the basement retaining walls that would exceed 14 meters (46 feet) in height, a traditional membrane system would almost certainly fail due to the soaring wall heights.

Solution

Assuming that a traditional membrane would fail to waterproof the tall walls, the team looked for an alternative.

TA GROUP, Kryton’s distributor in Lebanon was brought on board to provide and install Kryton’s crystalline waterproofing system.

In total TA GROUP waterproofed five basements with retaining wall heights exceeding 14 meters (46 feet) using Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) admixture and the Krystol Waterstop System, joint waterproofing system.

Selecting Kryton’s Krystol line of products:
• Saved time and money
• Provided one-stop manufacturer accountability
• Provided a permanent waterproofing solution

The contractor was very pleased with the work completed on the structure and appreciated the time and labor savings they gained from eliminating the need for external membranes.
