Mount Anvil and One Housing Group partnered to build a new luxury development featuring studio, one, two, three and four bedroom apartments surrounded by private gardens and water features in the heart of fashionable Clerkenwell.
The plans called for 274 units in 10 stories set atop of 4,500 sq. m (48,000 sq. ft.) of commercial space, as well as basements and parking. The team was looking for a long-term concrete waterproofing solution that would provide permanent protection for the basements and parking areas.
Given the site access restrictions due to the development being in London’s busy Clerkenwell inner city location, the team selected Kryton’s integral concrete waterproofing products to waterproof the building. The benefit of using an integral waterproofing system is that it requires no extra perimeter digging to accommodate traditional membranes and there is no extra equipment needed you simply add the concrete admixture and the entire concrete mass becomes the waterproof barrier.
Roughly 3000 cubic meters (106,000 cubic feet) of concrete in the slab, lift pits and basement walls were waterproofed with Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) concrete waterproofing admixture. To protect the construction joints from water ingress over 1500 m (5000 ft.) of Kryton’s Krystol Waterstop System for waterproofing joints was used on the basement and parking areas.
