The ‘American Dream’ refers, in part, in the United States to the notion that upward social mobility and success is possible for every individual through hard work. This popular mindset can be seen in an array of different capacities, including where one lives.
The Changsha Depp Real-Estate Development Company has taken this idea to heart with the American Dream Development in Changsha, China. This project is featuring low-density residential homes aspirational American design cues built in two phases.
Moreover, with heavy downpours evident in a region surrounded by rivers and a growing population, building a development that will last is extremely important. As water is the leading cause of concrete deterioration it was critical to build in a sustainable and durable way. This required the need to identify the best waterproofing solution available.
In order to prevent common leaking problems associated with risky external membranes, the project team chose to use Kryton International Inc.’s Krystol products as the waterproofing solution for the parking lot, basement, roof, walls and balconies, which had a total waterproofing area of 28,541 m2 (307,212 ft2) in the Villas and 53,549 m2 (576,396 ft2) in the High Building. In addition, Kryton’s Krystol Mortar Admixture™ was used for the outer walls of the Villas, which provided simple installation and superior performance with the ability to self-seal minor cracks and withstand water under pressure. For the basement and walls of the Villas, Kryton’s Krystol T1® was applied to prevent the passage of water through capillary
pores, micro-cracks and joints. To ensure everything was thoroughly protected, Krystol T2® was used in the basements, roofing and parking lot, ensuring the concrete itself is a waterproof for the lifespan of the development.
The use of both all these products will save the project team time and money so they, in-turn, can live the American Dream along with those lucky enough to become a resident in the development.
Krystol Mortar Admixture (KMA) is a hydrophilic crystalline admixture used to provide long-term protection of masonry mortars and concrete masonry units against water and waterborne contaminants by reducing permeability and absorption of the mortar.
