199 Watling Street is a contemporary development featuring 15 luxury apartments and 2 commercial units in the village of Radlett, which is one of the most sought-after locations in Hertfordshire just outside of London, UK.
The below grade portion of the development would be a car park using a lift system to lower the cars down to the basement level. As the project will be going underground and is built on a sloping site, the structure will be at risk to water infiltration. In order to ensure the protection of the vehicles down below and the integrity of the residence, a trusted and experienced waterproofing system was required.
The success of Kryton products in the United Kingdom allowed Source One Environmental (S1E) to convince the contractor on the project to change systems and go with Kryton. Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) waterproofing admixture was used in the basement slab, sump pits, and retaining walls. KIM’s ability to turn the concrete into a waterproof barrier and self-seal throughout the life of the concrete, keeps the structure protected for its entire lifespan.
Krytonite Swelling Waterstop and Krystol Waterstop Treatment were used to protect the construction joints and details of the structure. Krytonite is by far the most dependable waterstop on the market, with an ability to swell up to 1000% and control that swelling to allow for concrete strength development. Therefore, not only is the structure protected from the ingress of water, but the structure remains able to form to full strength.
199 Watling Street is currently watertight with the Kryton concrete waterproofing system working as specified.
Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) is a hydrophilic crystalline admixture used to create permanently waterproof concrete.
