Sanika Waterproofing Specialists was called to conduct a concrete repair and rejuvenation test on the Styldrift Mine in Rustenburg.
After an intensive site survey of the concrete water containment structure, it was observed that because of excessive movement between the pipe and the concrete, the concrete had begun to crack, causing spalling. The cracks had allowed water to penetrate through the container to the exterior of the structure. This was causing Styldrift Mine unnecessary time and money because they had to constantly fix and maintain the structure.
As the approved distributors for Kryton in Southern Africa, the Sanika team was tasked with the project of repairing the water containment structure using the Kryton’s Krystol Crack Repair System.
The exterior wall surface of the container surrounding the pipe penetration and honeycombed area was successfully repaired using Kryton’s Krystol™ crack repair system and the Krystol T1® and
T2® surface waterproofing system. The exterior wall shows no leaks and Styldrift Mine was extremely satisfied with the final outcome.
As part of the Krystol Leak Repair System, Krystol Repair Grout is a crystalline concrete waterproofing product that stops the flow of water to permanently repair leaking cracks, holes and joints in concrete, and can also be used to resurface and waterproof defective, damaged or deteriorating concrete. The grout employs advanced fiber technology and shrinkage controlling additives to prevent cracking.
