Corliving is a furniture manufacturer based out of BC. The Corliving Distribution and Manufacturing Facility has 210,000 ft2 of poured concrete in its warehouse floor. Hard-Cem®, the integral hardening admixture was used for nearly all of the facility. The warehouse withstands immense friction and abrasion from pallet jackets, forklifts and other manufacturing equipment every day. This warehouse was constructed 14 years ago, in 2004.
In May of 2018, curious about Hard-Cem®’s performance, a Kryton Representative visited the manufacturing facility. The distinction between areas poured with the integral admixture, Hard-Cem, and the portions poured with untreated concrete was quickly evident. While the Hard-Cem concrete was shiny and showed no gouge marks or signs of delamination from abrasion and erosion, the small untreated area was rough, weathered, and flaky.
Inadvertently, this warehouse has become an example of a field test of Hard-Cem’s durability. It is clear from the pictures taken, 14 years after the facility was constructed and opened, that Hard-Cem is the most durable and reliable concrete hardening technology in the market. This case study is proof that Hard-Cem is the best concrete hardening technology in the market to extend concrete wear life and avoid maintenance and repair costs. Not only does it protect from abrasion and erosion for a much longer period of time than dry-shake hardeners do, it also protects workers from harmful silica dust, which is now a requirement of the new OSHA regulations.
