Krystol Baricote (K-315)

DESCRIPTION
Krystol Bari-Cote is a fast-setting waterproof grout that is specially designed to repair leaking cracks, holes and joints (see Technical Bulletin #101 and #102). Krystol Bari-Cote contains special ingredients that react chemically with concrete to form millions of needle-like hydration crystals. These crystals grow deep into the capillary pores of the grout and surrounding concrete to block the passage of water.

FEATURES

  • Waterproof - contains Krystol Technology waterproofing compounds
  • Contains no corrosive chemicals or metals
  • Fast setting, high early strength
  • Superior bonding ability
  • Very high compressive and flexural strength
  • Withstands hydrostatic pressure
  • Safe for contact with potable water
  • Can be painted after curing

RECOMMENDED USES

  • Use Krystol Bari-cote to repair leaking cracks, joints and holes in concrete as per Technical Bulletin #101 and #102.
  • Fill form-tie holes in concrete walls

APPLICATION
For use as part of the Krystol Crack Repair system, refer to Technical Bulletin 101.
Concrete or brick surfaces must be sound and free of all contaminants. Surfaces to be treated must be pre-soaked with clean water to achieve a saturated/surface-dry (SSD) condition. Remove any surface water. Mix Krystol Bari-Cote to a suitable putty consistency - approximately 4 parts powder to 1 part clean water by volume (3.25:1 by mass). Use as little water as possible to prevent shrinkage and cracking. Apply using a trowel to the prepared surface. Note that Krystol Bari-Cote will develop significant heat from hydration as it hardens. Protect from rapid drying by misting with water. Apply to a maximum thickness of 0.5 inches (13mm). For thicker applications, mix Krystol Bari-Cote with clean 3/8ths pea gravel (10mm minus) in a ratio of 2 parts Bari-cote to one part gravel.

COVERAGE

  • Approx. 12 cubic inches per pound (430 cm3 per kg)
  • As a component of the crack repair system (see Technical Bulletin #101) a 55lb. (25kg) pail will complete approx. 100 lineal feet (30m) of crack.
  • As a parge coat, one 55lb. (25kg) pail will cover approx. 38 square feet (3.6m2) at 1/8th inch thickness (3mm).
