Plug-in Design Specification for Hydrostop 1.1 Description General Requirements: work shall apply to and form an integral part of this Section’s work as applicable. 1.2 Site Conditions Temperature: apply waterproofing in temperatures and conditions as directed by the approved manufacturer’s latest printed specifications and generally between 10° to 25° C. Surfaces: ensure surfaces to receive waterproofing are clean, free from dirt, oil, moss, mildew, and efflorescence. Masonry shall be thoroughly dry. 1.3 Quality Assurance Application: shall be carried out by an applicator approved by the material manufacturer, with at least five (5) years proven experience in work of this section and undertake work under the approved material manufacture’s supervision. 1.4 Submittals Warranty: Manufacturer shall provide a letter or technical note indicating that when the product is used for the purposes as specified under this section, it shall provide a minimum life expectancy of 5 years. Material Quality Requirements: manufacturer shall submit to consultant testing reports showing material submitted meets the U.S. Federal Specification TT-C-555B (resistance to wind driven rain at 98 MPH) undertaken by an independent third party testing agency prior to application of product. 1.5 Product Delivery, Storage and Handling Materials: materials shall be delivered to site in original unopened packages, show the name of the manufacturer, product identification and reference to applicable standards. Store out of direct sunlight at temperatures below 30° C. Keep from freezing; keep away from heat source, sparks or fire. 2.0 PRODUCTS 2.1 Acceptable Products: Krystol Hydrostop as manufactured by Kryton International Inc. (1-800-267-8280) (604-324-8280). 2.2 Material shall be a proprietary blend of silane and siloxane that forms an invisible, insoluble, water-repellent barrier within the surface that cannot wear away, fade, yellow, crack or peel. Material shall provide long-term water and salt resistance; be UV resistant, re-coatable; dry tack free; and provide resistance to 98 MPH wind-driven rain for a period of 5 years. 3.0 EXECUTION 3.1 Preparation Surfaces: shall be thoroughly clean and free from dirt, oils, moss, mildew, efflorescence, laitance, paint or any other contaminate that may interfere with the penetration or reaction of Krystol Hydrostop. Cracks: cracked areas shall be pre-treated with a flood coat of Krystol Hydrostop prior to standard treatment of all areas. Protect: adjacent wall surfaces, glass areas, aluminum framing, other cladding systems, and other building components. Clean affected areas as per manufacturer’s printed directions and recommendations. 3.2 Application Apply sealer in strict accordance with approved manufacturer’s latest printed specifications. Apply in 2 coats, with the exception of the pre-treatment of the cracked areas. Contact manufacturer or dealer for coverage rates of specific substrates. 3.3 Clean-Up Clean any adjacent areas with mineral spirits or a solvent material as approved by the manufacturer. end of section Download the Specification in WORD format
