Other Krystol™ Waterproofing Projects
Parking Deck Raft Slab
Pacific Plaza Shopping Center, Richmond, Canada
BACKGROUND
A 35, 000 ft² parking deck raft slab required waterproofing and corrosion resistance. The raft slab was on grade but the property is situated below sea level. Engineers were concerned about wicking water and subsequent corrosion of reinforcing steel. As well there were virtually no joints or construction breaks to alleviate stress and cracking.
SOLUTION
The slab was poured on December 30, 1997, in cold winter conditions. Drying shrinkage cracking was substantially reduced and to date KIM provides the waterproofing and corrosion control that is required for long-term durability.
