Background

Liwa Centre is a residential building located on Hamdan Street in Abu Dhabi. The area faces significant ground water pressure. Due to the high hydrostatic pressure several leaks in the elevator pits appeared after construction. At best, the cracks are just an unattractive nuisance but at worst, they lead to leaks that can damage the interior of the building, corrode steel reinforcements and ultimately shorten the life of the building. Several attempts to repair the leaks using different materials proved unsuccessful.

Solution

After several attempts to repair the leaking elevator pits the management team decided to try Kryton’s Krystol Crack Repair System. The Krystol Crack Repair System was successful where previous systems had failed. 

The Krystol Crack Repair System is different from other systems it:
• Protects from any direction – even against high water pressure
• Can be applied to either side of the concrete (eliminating the need for perimeter digging)
• Protects reinforcing steel against corrosion

To date the Krystol Crack Repair System has stopped the leaks in the elevator pit.
