Background

Krystol Internal Membrane™ (KIM®) was used in the concrete mix of the the 200 cubic meters deck slab on the rooftop car park of the BMW Building in Southbank, Melbourne.

Solution

KIM® is a cementitious admixture added to the concrete to provide permanent self-sealing waterproofing. KIM® uses Kryton’s proprietary crystalline technology to react with water and unhydrated concrete, causing millions of needle-like crystals to form, blocking the penetration of water and corrosive elements. Over time, incoming water causes additional crystals to form, self-sealing small cracks and saving repair and maintenance time and costs.
