Chinese Embassy BACKGROUND A major concern on this project was the potential for water leakage through the subgrade cold-joints at the intersection of the concrete slabs. The building is surrounded by a high water table, which translates into hydrostatic pressure. SOLUTION Ballast Nedam applied Krystol Slurry and Grout according to Kryton's Technical Specification #3 - Krystol Waterstop Concrete Joint Design. The Krystol Waterstop Slurry was applied to the intended joint area before the walls were poured. A keyway was built into the forms before the pour and, after pouring the walls, the keyway was filled with Krystol Waterstop Grout. Five weeks later the water was standing against the basement wall and the cold joints are dusty dry.
