Below-Grade
Boeing Development Center
Washington, USA
BACKGROUND
The Boeing Aircraft Plant is the world's largest volume building under a single roof, with over 62 acres indoors. The below grade foundation required very thick concrete pours at 6 feet thick at the base tapering to 4 1/2 feet at the top.
SOLUTION
In 1983, during construction of the foundation, the KIM admixture was used to tank the building. KIM replaced any need for an external membrane or other waterproofing method. The system continues to perform perfectly today.
