Not just innovation for innovation’s sake, but finding solutions to existing, real-life problems. Like developing a concrete waterproofing admixture that adds to a concrete producers bottom line while allowing property developers to maximize value by building right to the property line. Or creating a quick and easy to apply waterstop system to protect concrete joints saving contractors valuable time and money.

Today, many of Kryton’s competitors are downsizing or centralizing their laboratory facilities. But we didn’t get to be the leading supplier of crystalline concrete waterproofing systems by following the pack. Our research and development program is flourishing.

We maintain full-service laboratories in Vancouver and India. We partner with scientists, engineers and specialists from universities and research institutes worldwide. And we allocate an unparalleled amount of resources towards R&D. In fact, as much as 10% of our worldwide revenues are dedicated to R&D. You could call it our passion.

Create better mousetraps. We’ve got our ear to the ground, seeking out challenges and unsolved problems in concrete construction. And we’re always on the lookout for new ways to improve existing products and systems.

Solve our customers’ unique problems. Yes, we take requests! Kryton worked with Vancouver Rapid Transit to develop a special non-conductive coating for the basis of its electric transformers. We were able to accommodate an Indonesian contractor who asked us to tailor our KIM admixture to suit that country’s unique construction methods. And when a pre-cast concrete supplier in the USA wanted a way to prove to customers that KIM had been incorporated into his concrete slabs, we developed methods and tests to prove that KIM was present.

Know our competition, inside and out. It’s important that we understand all the waterproofing systems on the market – how they work, why they sometimes don’t. When we tell you how our systems compare with others, it’s not fluffy marketing speak. It’s first-hand knowledge based on years of research , investigation and testing.

Ensure that every Kryton product meets your exacting quality standards. Every batch of product is tested in our labs before it’s shipped, to make sure it meets our customers rigorous standards. We are certified by BNQ (using ISO 9000 standards) and the Master Painters Association (MPA) in Canada, the British Board of Agreement (CE Mark) in Europe, the International Code Council – Evaluation Services (ICC-ES), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and NSF International in the USA, and the list goes on…

Protect our staff, customers and the environment. It may be all the current buzzword today, but Kryton has focused on safety for many years. Through careful research, we’ve developed lead-free, solvent-free, non-toxic products that don’t contain harmful additives.

Review projects and provide advice. Over the past 30 years, Kryton has developed an industry-wide reputation as a problem solver. When concrete construction projects meet waterproofing challenges, contractors, building owners, engineers and architects look to Kryton for solutions. We assess the situation, prepare a report identifying what went wrong and recommend a remedy.
